A shrouded turbine can improve aerodynamic efficiency because shroud can reduce loss generated by the leakage flow. However, shroud increases stage weight and stress in the rotor blade and disk. Therefore, partial shrouds have been suggested as compromise solutions. The aim of this study is to design a partial shroud which can achieve high aerodynamic efficiency and stage weight reduction. Numerical simulation is being conducted to evaluate the performance of various partial shrouds and to analyze the flow physics. Low-speed turbine experiments will be carried out to validate the results of numerical study.
